Profile

Højgård Equine Hospital, established in 1999 is a modern, well equipped hospital, offering our own clients as well as those referred to us by other veterinarians, a wide range of both routine and specialized equine procedures, treatments and surgeries.

The hospital consists of 42 boxes, which includes several specially modified boxes allowing for specialized treatment of horses requiring intensive
care, including neonatal foals. A sand stall is available to allow laminitic horses a more comfortable surface, and a separate isolation facility allows for quarantine of horses with potentially contagious diseases. The hospital is surrounded by 6 hectares of grass paddocks, which can be used for hospitalized horses as well as brood mares during the breeding season. Specialized diagnostic equipment includes digital Xray, high frequency color dopler ultrasonography, gastroscopy, endoscopy and scintigraphy.

Surgeries are performed in a well equipped theatre with protected induction and recovery box. The Hospital also has an ambulatory practice, which covers a defined area on the island of Fyn. We have an out of hour service for our clients as well as offering a 24 hours hospital service for referral patients. This out of hours service is covered by our own veterinarians.
